FAMILY/CHILD PORTRAIT SESSIONS

Family sessions can be either in studio or at a location of your choice.

Because every individual family is unique and has their own special ideas and goals for their portrait session, Cheryl encourages you to come in for a complimentary design consult appointment.  This is where we just chat.  We get to know each other better and I get to learn more about your vision and share my thoughts for you as well as introducing you to the work that makes this studio special.  We will discuss location options, style, clothing choices, time of day for the look you are wanting while also answering all of your questions.

What do we wear?

Coordination of clothing in family portraiture is very important.  However that doesn't mean that you have to wear cookie cutter identical or ultra plain outfits.  Colour and creativity can easily be incorporated using accents and colour harmony palettes.  What is important to keep in mind is that busy patterns can often detract from faces which is why patterns such as plaid are often discouraged.  The goal of a family or group photo is to see your family as one unit yet made up of individuals.  Clothing that distracts or is very different in colour or tonality from others in the same group can lead the viewer to see the clothing first instead of the individuals.  It's also important that you wear something that you feel looks good on you.
Layering clothing is often a good way to include some variances such as colour accents.   
When photographing a single person or two (perhaps a child session) mixing it up with some solids and patterns can be very pleasing. Cheryl is available to discuss all of your clothing questions with you.

What if it's raining or the weather is bad on our scheduled day?

Obviously indoor or studio sessions are not affected, however if inclement weather occurs on your day, the session can be rescheduled at no cost or penalty.  I don't want to photograph your child or family in the rain any more than you want to sit out in the rain having your portrait taken.  (Of course rain can make for some fun images and if that's your personality then let's go for it).
Wind can also be an issue at times.  If gale forces are in effect it may be a good reason to also alter your session time.
Cheryl wants your images to be their best and recognizes that sometimes weather can get in the way.  That's not her fault, but it's not yours either so certainly the time can be changed. 
Be advised however that your scheduled time is important, please be respectful of the time that has been set aside for you and be sure to arrive on time or just a wee bit early to ensure that adequate time is available to create your portraits.

 

ENCHANTED FAIRYTALE PORTRAIT SESSIONS

Cheryl Struss Photography is excited to offer a multi set Enchanted Forest for your little boys and girls. Fairies, elves, princesses, and pirates. Everything you need is provided, just bring your child and let Cheryl's direction lead their imagination. Cheryl's goal is to make this session one they will always remember. Children have vivid imaginations and will often play make believe at home - why not capture that essence in a beautiful timeless portrait.

These sessions are geared towards children 3 and up. In some situations younger ones can be photographed however the recommendation is for 3 and up.

What is the Ordering Session and what is expected?

Approximately a week following your portrait session you will be invited back to view your images. You will be shown the images from your portrait session on the big screen. Cheryl will help guide you through the selection process of choosing your favourites. Different cropping options can be discussed as well as any special requests you may have for the images. Using our cutting edge technology your images can even be displayed onto your own wall showing you the appropriate size and scale for any room in your home. 

Wall groupings, coffee table albums, prints, framed and mounted prints are all available and on display to help your selection process.  You will be asked to place your order on this day. Payment accepted includes, cash, e transfer, cheque, visa and master card.
